Dexter: The Top Five Moments…
Believe it or not it has been five years since our beloved Dexter left our screens for good. Dexter gruesomely pushed the boundaries of acceptable television whiles creating characters you cared about all at the same time.
The show was fascinatingly original, as we watched, we kind of rooted for a psychopathic killer. We listened intently to the inner monologue of a killer and only we knew what he was secretly up to.
Following his father’s secret code, Dexter tried not to kill the innocent, optomg to kill people he deemed guilty of serious crime.
The writing was superb, the supporting cast were excellent and Michael C. Hall’s performance as Dexter was simply award winning.
Although not every season was exceptional the majority of Dexter was brilliant from start to finish.
Let’s take a look at Dexters Top Ten Moments…
5. ‘The Gateway’
This shocking conclusion to the fourth season is seen as, perhaps, the peak of Dexter as a show. After battling ‘the Trinity Killer’ throughout the entire series, Dexter returns home to find his young son drenched in fresh blood. If that wasn't shocking enough, we are then treated to the sight of Dexter’s beloved wife, murdered in the bath. Life for Dexter was never the same again.
4. ‘Morning Comes’
This is Dexter at its most suspenseful best. After the bombshell revelation of Dexter’s affair came to light, the lies start to unravel. We watch Dexter try and cover up his lies desperately. It is first class acting from all involved. Just when you think things can't get any more intense, we’re it with Sergeant Doakes finding Dexter blood slide box hidden behind the air conditioner.
3. ‘Are you?...’
Dexter is caught red handed by his sister. His iconic murder weapon knives in hand, victim laying on the bed, its the scene we waited for for six series. Surprisingly though, his sister decides to help Dexter hide the body. This scene set the mood for the entire series as it jumped to the end of the series after the scene ends as we see Dexter desperately running away from someone.
2. ‘Get Geller’
Throughout series six we saw Professor Geller and his young apprentice committing religious style murders all over Miami. In another mind boggling twist we see the situation develop in a totally shocking way. Catching us all off guard we saw Dexter finally track down the killers thinking Marshall had helped Dexter find the evil Gellar only to find Geller’s dead body frozen. The moment is then revealed as Marshall comes to the fore as the mastermind behind all the killings.
Series seven saw the surprising development of Deb trying to wean Dexter from his life of crime and murder. Deb hopes Dexter can leave his old ways behind and start a new, fresh life. The only problem is that LaGuerta has found out who Dexter really is. After Sergeant Doakes’ downfall at the hands of Dexter he is hell bent on revenge and justice. Dexter can't help himself as he continues his killing sprees, one which involves drug lord and mum killer Hector Estrada. Dexter plans to frame LaGuerta with killing but LaGuarta thwarts him leading to scene where Dexter has the cop down on the floor, ready to kill him. At this point Deb arrives on the scene, catching Dexter in the act. LaGuerta pleads with Deb to do the right thing and finish off her beloved brother. The scene ends with Dexter’s iconic line ‘do what you gotta do’.
